Using Forums To Network Successfully

Filed under: Social Tips — admin at 12:32 pm on Wednesday, March 24, 2010

According to one of the entries found at dictionary.com the definition of the word network is as follows: Something resembling an openwork fabric or structure in form or concept, especially: An extended group of people with similar interests or concerns who interact and remain in informal contact for mutual assistance or support.

The Merriam Webster Online Dictionary at http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary gives the following definition for networking: the exchange of information or services among individuals, groups, or institutions.

Successful networking occurs when the exchange of information or services is amongst people with similar interests or concerns. Maintaining the network of connections provides a networking opportunity when one has new information to exchange with others in this group of individuals.

Recently I decided to put a theory to the test that one of the best ways to develop networking relationships was through the use of online forums. My target audience of response was forums aimed at people involved in affiliate programs, network marketing, or internet marketing of some type. I mostly wanted to see who would respond if anyone and see how much of a response I would get.

I used a piece of software that has both a browser and a way to watch one’s forum posts for responses. In addition to seeing how many people would answer my questions another goal is to get my self-known among forum communities. No one wants to do business with a stranger.

Here is something that I discovered. The small forums that are part of groups such as Delphi Forums and Ezboards have very few posts and when someone does post, the posts are mainly advertising in nature. I would suggest that you are wasting your time if you post to these forums. Is all forum posting a waste of time? Definitely not, as there is much value in it, as you will see by what I write next.

I decided to go to some of the forums of well-known websites or well-known internet marketers and posting there. In creating an account I set up a signature file so that in every post that I made my URL would be shown. I was very careful for the most part to ask questions or give answers. Never once did I post what could be seen as an ad. And guess what the result was.

In the settings of the forums where it was allowed I set the choice so that I would be emailed when I had a response. I was very happy to get emails announcing that people had responded to my various posts in not one but several of these professional forums.

The forums I posted to all had to do with a subject that I am interested in namely affiliate and network marketing on the Internet. The people who responded were very knowledgeable and helpful and I hope that in situations where I answered someone’s question(s) that my answer(s) were of help to them.

What did my experience in the forums prove? By the fact that I shared information with people interested in the same topics as myself and that they shared their information with me it proved that forums are a very important part of networking on the Internet.

In researching to write this article I have also discovered an incredible online tool, basically a website that keeps track of posts to e-commerce websites. It is found at http://www.mikes-ecommerce-software.com/ecommerce-forum/ Mike also has a page for watching posts to marketing forums discussing internet marketing and search engines. The link for this is at http://www.mikes-marketing-tools.com/marketing-forum/ Although this tool doesn’t watch for replies to your post it can keep you aware of what discussions are going on in these forums. Then if you have questions about the particular subject or answers to someone’s question you can jump into that forum and network with the people in that forum.

The Search Doesn’t End at Your Homepage

Filed under: Search Engine Optimization Tips — admin at 2:02 am on Wednesday, March 24, 2010

In a recent report for a new client, I wrote:

“Remember, a visitor’s search doesn’t end when they leave Google. Their search and the phrases associated with it continue right through to the completion of the task they have in mind.”

Many of us pay attention to the keywords and phrases being used by our visitors when they arrive via a search engine. It makes sense not only because it gets you higher rankings, but also because the use of the right search terms signals to your reader that your page is relevant to them. In other words, your heading and intros are directly relevant to their search.

But all too often, once those key phrases are in place, we think the job is done. Not so.

There are other key points on your homepage where getting the phrase right can make a big difference.

Here’s what I mean.

Let’s say you are working on two pages; the homepage and a second level page. Working with your site logs and a tool like WordTracker, you optimize the homepage with the best keywords and phrases you can find. And that’s great. You now have text that is relevant to your visitor’s search.

But here’s something else you can do…

Use the same process to identify the best words for the links from your homepage to the second level page.

Simply go through the same process with that second page. Use your logs and a keyword tool to find the most relevant terms for that page.

And then use one of those terms in the link from your homepage.

Do you get the idea? The core of this process is to recognize that your visitor hasn’t completed their ’search’ when they arrive at your homepage. The search is just the beginning. Part of your task is to understand how best to write the links that take people deeper into your site. And one way of maximizing that clickthrough is to use terms that are directly relevant to the visitor’s continuing search.

SEO helps us focus on writing in ways that are directly relevant to the task our visitors have in mind. My point is, don’t consider the job completed when you have optimized the homepage or any particular landing page. Use the same approach, the same way of writing, to help that visitor all the way through to the moment when they complete their task, whatever that may be.

One Way Linking Campaign- I

Filed under: Links Portal — admin at 1:19 pm on Tuesday, March 23, 2010

This article explains in detail the various issues related to the linking campaign that you will need to mount, to establish your worth in the algorithms of search engines . Some of the issues that we will be tackling in this & subsequent articles are:

-Creating one way incoming links to your site.

-The identification of resources to link.

-Evaluation of the resources identified.

-How to approach others with your link requests( some samples).

-Where to put the link the link in your web site.

-Where should the incoming link to your web site be placed in others site.

-The almighty anchor text.

-Linking software evaluation.

-The donts of linking campaign.

-Sundry tips & trips.

-How to maintain the linking ledger.

Before we begin with the details of your linking campaign(LC) we are assuming that your site has some great content or some good tool or something which creates unique value(UV) for visitors. Remember to keep the UV as the lynchpin of your web site linking strategy. Think about is like this. Would you want to link to someone who doesn’t have anything of merit on his or her site.

Hence the first step should be to set up your house properly before inviting others (SE, editors & web masters).

Now that you have created noteworthy inducements lets get started with the LC. Pls remember that one good quality incoming link is better than 100 inferior quality incoming ones. The quality of the linking campaign is very (allow me top add one more very) very important.

First item on the agenda is to generate & create one way incoming links into your web site. These links are at the highest priority as far as our LC goes. This is because the SE sees them as they are: one way links. This gives it a significant vote. In other words the SE knows that you have not traded a link Some one has found genuine merit in your web site & has linked to you. They value that link higher than others (all others remaining equal).

Hence our first effort should be directed towards creating these. Now some of the ways to do this is:

Get the directory listings first. There are numerous directories( Dmoz, Yahoo, Zeal) etc which one can submit a site to. With some one like dmoz you can aspire for more than one incoming link as well. You can try some of the paid options of URL inclusion if your budget permits it ( business.com, yahoo.com etc) Then there are multiple, regional & topical directories which one can look for & get the site submitted to. Then of course there are some portals which are hubs for the theme that your web site is on. Find them & submit to them( a great way to look for them is to go to Teoma & give your key search term in their search box .On the results page look at the resources sections. The hubs of your theme or domain area will be listed in there)

Once you have found & listed into these directories, hubs, portals etc what do you do. Take the next step for creating one way links.

That is become the internet guru on your subject matter. To get yourself to that status write articles & columns on your subject matter of expertise. These articles should be genuine content which adds value to the reader & are not just under cover publicity campaigns for your product or service. Once these articles are created include your bio ( obviously with your hyperlink into it- this is great place to control your anchor text so be judicious ) & submit that article to various online resources & content providers.

To find a listing of those do an online search for the keyword Article banks.( the most cited resource for this is http://www.coachmaria.com/articles/articlebanks.html) Choose you targets & start to submit articles.(Don’t forget to host that content on your site as well). This is generally what people will link to.

Another place to contribute these articles is to the sites which are ranking ahead of you on your key search phrase. Most probably they will also have quality content on their site. So if you have genuine content, they will welcome your contribution.

A Fundamental Guide To Procuring The Most Appropriate Babywear

Filed under: Unassigned — admin at 11:05 pm on Monday, March 22, 2010

Babywear fashion is in-style fashion, for the baby, of course! But better than just looking incredibly, it has to feel perfect against soft skin and last in all the different locations that get worn the most; e.g. knees, bottoms and elbows. Great quality babywear not only looks fun and stylish; but it also washes and endures exceptionally well. However, most important is that it fits your baby.

When finding babywear for your new born, make sure you understand where the snaps, buttons and elastic are situated. Will they push on your baby’s delicate skin, which could easily leave marks and result in chafing? Additionally, how tight is too tight? Is the fabric breathable, stretchable or free moving, to let rolling, crawling and arm rotation? Is the fastener going to grab sensitive skin? First-rate babywear takes these concerns into account and delivers a solution. Find a large array of baby & child products online including; babywear, car seats and Britax car seats.

Buttons are seldom seen in babywear these days, normally not appearing on clothes until the kid is old enough. Snaps are a great alternative, fitting directly in the nappy region and down the baby’s back, and typically are not noticeable so they don’t cause the skin to rash. Elastics found in the both ankle and arm areas are significant, hardly ever fitting near to the skin and yet still keeping warm clothing in place.

Most babywear today is made of breathable, wearable and resilient material. Most pieces are made to move with your little one, making growing babies and toddlers happy to wear it. Comfort is very important for any kid, as their skin is smooth and irritates incredibly easily. All this mounts up to is convenience for the parent! Not to say that the pretty designs and fabric styles found nowadays for both boys’ and girls’ clothing.

Babywear does not have to be uninteresting to be everything your cherished child needs. After all, there has to be “enjoyment” in “practical”. And little girls and boys love being pretty roughly about as much as we love seeing them that way! If your kid’s beloved jumper is getting too tiny, it is a fairly good bet that you’ll be able to find her another in a different fabric, design and colour she will adore!

And finally, your baby and toddlers are growing rapidly. Products that cost you a great amount of money, but do not last for very long, are not worth purchasing. Buying clothes that fit and looks fantastic isn’t hard if you just invest a bit of your time looking on the World Wide Web prior to going to the shops. Then again, you might well want to buy whilst you are on the World Wide Web and get it posted to your door. Now, that is a convenience that every parent could do with!

Most makes of GPS navigation units, such as Navman, have options online both with & without voice commands.

Keep Your Skin Clean and Acne Free by Brushing

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 3:24 pm on Monday, January 18, 2010

The skin is the largest of the elimination channels. Through the skin toxins are eliminated which are brought to the skin surface from the blood. When the regular elimination channels are sluggish or partial plugged up such as your colon being constipated, not all toxins move out through your feces.

Toxins that accumulate in the colon tend to move into the blood, when colon walls have been weaken through constant constipation or abused through eating excessive junk food. Once in the blood they move into the liver for detoxification.

If you are frequently constipated, than your liver will be overworked and unable to detoxify all of the colon toxins. The liver will store a lot of these toxins in its own tissue and else where in your body’s tissues, joints, organs, cells and skin. When your pores are not working properly, excessive toxins in the pores can lead to acne.

When you have excessive toxins and your immune system is not able to detoxify them, these toxins will moved to the skin surface through the blood where they are enter the hair pores - follicles - and try to move to the skin surface. When your pores are not working properly, excessive toxins in the pores can lead to acne.

Body odor is also a result of toxins coming out through the skin that should be moving out through the other elimination channels.

If your body skin is clean and its pores are open and unclogged, toxins will move out through the pores without creating acne, pimples or eruptions. The skin normally moves 1-2 pounds of toxins out of your skin daily.

You can tell when your pores are open. You sweat freely during exercise. If you do not sweat much during hot weather or during exercise, then your skin pores are probably plugged.

To keep your skin active and serving as a good channel of elimination you need to brush your skin daily before you shower or during your shower. When you brush your skin, brush in one direction, starting from your feet towards your heart.

In her book, Detox For Life, 2002, Loree Taylor Jordan, C.C.H., I.D. says,

“One of greatest gifts of health that you can give yourself is the gift of skin brushing. Dry skin brushing in one of the finest of all baths. No soap can wash the skin as clean as the new skin you have under the old. You make new skin on the body every 24 hours. The skin will only be as clean as the bloodstream. Dry skin brushing removes the top layer. This helps to eliminate uric acid crystals catarrh, and various other acids in the body. The skin should eliminate 2 pounds of waste acids daily.”

Understanding how your skin lives will help you keep it clean. Brush your skin daily and bring toxins to the skin surface where you can get rid of them during your shower.

Statcounter.com: A User’s Review.

Filed under: Living With Traffic — admin at 3:22 pm on Monday, January 18, 2010

After having experienced almost all of the traffic analysis
services available on the internet, Statcounter.com is
undeniably the best traffic analysis service. One of the best
things about Statcounter.com is that they offer a free service
package. No strings, it really is free. Another great thing is
the amount of detail that the counter produces about a website
visitor. The only possible down side of the free service is the
log size. All in all, Statcounter.com is a must have for any
website.

Statcounter.com’s free service is amazing. No ads on your site,
your visitors do not ever see anything from Statcounter.com.
Another rare thing about this free service is that they do not
send SPAM. I know that is hard to believe, but it is true. Other
than requested email from them I can not remember receiving any
emails from them. The reason for this is their high traffic
rank. Alexa (www.alexa.com) gives them a rank of 241, which
means that they are the 241st most popular site on the Internet.
With traffic like that they never have to SPAM or place ads on
your site.

The amount of detail that a webmaster receives is astonishing.
The counter tracks everything that a webmaster could ever need.
The stats include:

  • Popular Pages
  • Entry
    Pages
  • Exit Pages
  • Came From
  • Keyword
    Analysis
  • Recent Keyword Activity
  • Search Engine
Wars(What search engines users come from)
  • Visitor
    Paths
  • Visit Length
  • Returning Visit
  • Recent Pageload Activity
  • Country/State/City/ISP
  • Brower
  • System
    Stats

All of those are available on the free service. They are all
very specific and very detailed. Statcounter.com is the most
detailed free service available.

If any negative can be said, it must be said with a light touch.
The problem is that I can not fault a free service for anything
because they are giving it away for free. I very much dislike
people who criticize a company’s free service for any reason.
Given all that, the log size of the free service is limited to
100 page loads. They offer two tiers of subscription service
that can take the log size to 10,000 page loads, but the free
service is 100. I would like to see the service with a little
bigger size because it is very difficult to track trends and
long periods of time with the small log size. Again, I must
repeat, that is not criticism, just a little wishful thinking.

I do not work for Statcounter.com; in fact, I am the president
of MVP Internet Solutions. I am writing this article because I
feel that all webmaster should use this service. Please do not
take my word for it. Check them out, you will see.

A Must See Guide To Acquiring The Most Suitable Sat Nav Systems

Filed under: Informationer — admin at 2:31 am on Monday, January 18, 2010

A Sat Nav can save you a lot of time when on the road. Whether you are going on a long drive or just travelling to the office weekly, a first-class satellite navigation system can be well worth the cash spent. Before you get a TomTom or any other navigation unit, consider how you will primarily use it. If you only aim on needing it for family outings, you will get an entirely different model than you would if you aim to use your system day after day. Find a diverse selection of technology products such as; sat navs, digital photo frames and panasonic televisions from leading brands online.

If you are planning to be using your satellite navigation unit primarily for family journeys where it is likely for you to have a co-pilot to help you navigate, then you probably do not require a product with voice identification. Your spouse will easily be able to push buttons and type in destinations while you focus on driving safely. Yet, if you intend to use your GPS navigation system for solo company trips, it is recommended to think about getting hold of a Sat Nav system with voice capabilities. That way, you can go through towns & keep both hands on the wheel whilst inputting or changing your intended location. Most manufactures of satellite navigation units, for instance Sony, have units online both with & without voice functions.

Procuring the proper GPS navigation unit, can make a long drive in your vehicle much more tolerable for you as well as your family. Rather than a general voice giving you directions, a number of systems come installed with hilarious or celebrity voices which you can pick. If your family requires a short break at some point in your excursion, a GPS navigation system can aid you in finding the best place to get a nibble to eat and have a coffee. When you are prepared to return to the expedition, your unit will work out your new route & get you back on the motorway without any trouble. Therefore, this means no more fumbling with maps and atlases every time you stop.

For the every day traveller, an excellent GPS navigation system can without doubt save you a great deal of time in the morning commute. Some of the more costly products provide real-time traffic messages. If traffic is jammed due to a crash or road works, your navigation system will recommend an alternative route. These traffic messages can save you a substantial amount of time in traffic jams, therefore getting you to your work on schedule.

No matter how you aim to use your GPS system, there is a product that will suit your demands perfectly. It is very important to make sure that you analyse all your available options carefully ahead of you making your final conclusion. Your GPS navigation system will be there no matter where the drive takes you.

Exercise The Right Way - The Deadlift

Filed under: Fitness + Training — admin at 9:06 am on Monday, January 11, 2010

Other articles in this series looked at a number of exercises, mainly from the perspective of developing a comprehensive muscle building program. Sometimes we take things for granted, especially when it comes to performing the basic exercises that constitute the core of most bodybuilders’ training regimes.

It is useful, therefore, to describe in detail the processes involved in actually doing these exercises. This will help beginners to start out using the correct techniques before moving on to potentially more dangerous heavy weights. If it also helps more experienced lifters to redress some of the little faults that have almost imperceptibly crept in over the years, all the better.

In this article we’ll take a close look at the deadlift.

MUSCLES TARGETED: gluteus maximus, semimembranosus, semitendinosis, biceps femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius, vastus medialis, rectus femoris

STARTING POSITION

Stand with feet flat and placed slightly less than shoulder width with toes pointed slightly outward.
Squat down with hips lower than shoulders and grasp the bar with a closed, alternated grip.
Place hands on bar slightly wider than shoulder width apart, outside knees and with elbows fully extended.
Place bar roughly 1 inch in front of shins and over balls of feet.

UPWARD MOVEMENT

Lift bar off floor by extending hips and knees.
Maintain a flat back and keep hips ahead of shoulders.
Keep elbows fully extended.
Keep bar as close to shins as possible.
When bar passes knees move the hips forward.
Keep body erect at point of full knee and hip extension.

DOWNWARD MOVEMENT

Allow the hips and knees to flex to slowly lower the bar to the floor.
Repeat or finish set.

What to Do to Avoid Getting Banned

Filed under: Net + More — admin at 3:00 am on Sunday, January 10, 2010

How would you feel if you found a link on the web that was interesting to you but when you click the link it takes you to a page that is total rubbish? You are not only disappointed but it also wastes your time. Unfortunately, this is often true in many cases. To get a good ranking, often web page designers use “spamdexing”. Spamdexing search engines is the practice of deliberately and dishonestly modifying HTML pages to artificially increase the chance of them ranking close to the top of search engine results. This spamming could result in your site getting banned from search engine indices.

To avoid getting banned by search engines make it sure that when a search engine sends spiders to your site it doesn’t find any spamming technique in use.

Hidden or Invisible Links:

One reason why you could be banned by a search engine, is when you are creating multiple sites on the same or similar topic and linking them all together through invisible links. But you really need to have unique content on each and every site and not link them all together where it really doesn’t make sense to do so. If you are interested in learning more about spamming then you should read this article: Missing Backlinks in Google - High Rankings Advisor.

Keyword Stuffing:

Most modern search engines have the ability to determine overuse of a word to increase the keyword frequency on a page. They also have the ability to analyze a page for keyword stuffing, and determine whether the frequency is above a normal level. So, while designing your site, remember not to stuff keywords or else you run the risk of getting banned.

Meta tag Stuffing:

Do not repeat keywords in the meta tags more than once, and do not use keywords that are unrelated to the site’s content. If it isn’t represented in the text content, it shouldn’t be in the meta tags.

Hidden Text:

Putting text (usually keywords) where visitors will not see them, in order toincrease a page’s keyword relevancy. This is commonly done by making some text the same as the
background color of the page.

Cloaking:

Cloaking is a very borderline method, in which visitors and search engines receive different versions of a page, and should be considered very carefully.

Link spamming:

Google page ranking algorithm gives a higher ranking to a website the more other websites link to it. Some spammers may create multiple web sites at different domain names that all link to each other.

Spamming refers to practices or techniques that are dishonest. To optimize your ranking, do not use any technique that will encourage search engines to ban you. Instead you should emphasize on how to optimize for your visitors. So remember the tips regarding spamming when you are designing your web site, and avoid getting banned by the search engines.
